On November 1, 2022, PPL Electric Utilities announced that its standard electric offer, or Price To Compare, was increasing by 18% for residential customers and by 26% for commercial customers on December 1, 2022. The new electricity rates will be in place until June of 2023.

  • Residential PPL PTC: Increasing to 14.612¢/kWh on 12/1/2022
  • Commercial PPL PTC: Increasing to 14.751¢/kWh on 12/1/2022

What Does This Mean For PPL Electric Customers?

PPL customers have already been feeling rising energy prices in the utility bills for the better half of 2022. In fact, current PPL rates are over 11 cents per kWh, which are almost 100% higher than where prices were a few short years earlier.

Small businesses and residents in Allentown, Bethlehem, Reading, Quakertown, Mt. Pocono, Scranton, Wilkes-Barre and more are paying much more than they’re used to for electricity in PPL.

Now, with the recent price increase, customers will pay 18-26% more for their electricity. Some customers are finding this hard to believe. George J., a local florist in Allentown, told us,

“I really don’t know how small businesses are going to survive with these electric prices. I am used to paying about $500 for my electric bill. Over the last two years that bill is almost doubled, and now has the chance of being $1,500 in some of my higher usage months. This just eats into my profit.”

What You Can Do To Control Your Energy Costs

If you live in the PPL territory or own a business there, now is the best time to shop for an electric supplier. In fact, PPL electric supplier rates can now allow you to lock in prices that are well below the PPL price to compare default rate.

On our website, we display the lowest electric rates in PPL from both residential and commercial electricity suppliers. Locking into a third-party electric rate has never been easier in PPL. Click on one of the buttons below to start shopping:
