Southlake is a city located in Tarrant County and Denton County, Texas. It is also a suburb of both Dallas and Fort Worth. The city of Southlake has a total area of 22.5 square miles. It lies close to the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport.
The area that is now known as Southlake was settled in the 1840s but was not incorporated as Southlake until 1956. This took place four years after the construction of Grapevine Lake. Before incorporation, the settlements of Whites Chapel, Dove, Union Church, and Jellico made up present-day Southlake. The area remained widely rural until the completion of the Dallas-Fort WorthInternational Airport in the 1970s. Due to the proximity to the airport, the area has grown into a bustling suburb of the larger DFW area.
As of 2020, the population of Southlake was 31,265 people, with 9,323 households, and 8,398 families residing within the city limits.
Southlake is home to the Solana business park where Sabre Holdings, an S&P 500 company is headquartered. Industrial businesses including gasoline storage and distribution as well as concrete production facilities are located on the eastern side of the city, close to the DFW Airport. The leading employers of the area include Sabre Holdings, TD Ameritrade, Carroll ISD, Gateway Church, Keller Williams, Verizon Wireless, Central Market, the City of Southlake, and Apple.
