Energy Deregulation
There are a couple types of billing options when it comes to your energy agreements: utility consolidated (one bill from the utility), supplier consolidate (one bill from the supplier) and dual billing (one from the supplier for the supply costs and one bill from the utility for distribution costs). Most standard agreements will be consolidated billing. In Texas, most bills are supplier consolidated billing.
If you enter into a supplier agreement that has a cancellation fee, unfortunately, no. When you enter into an agreement for your energy procurement, you will be responsible for the terms and conditions of the agreement.
If your supplier agreement does not have a cancellation fee, you would be eligible to switch suppliers during the contract.
Please confirm with your supplier if your agreement does or does not have a cancellation fee prior to switching.
The utility’s rate does change throughout the year. Once your agreement has ended you will be able to analyze the market and make the best decision at that time.
