Discount Power was founded in 2008 in Houston, Texas as a retail energy supplier of natural gas and electricity. They were acquired by Voltatera Energy in 2004 and again in 2018 by NRG Energy. NRG is an American energy company that was formerly the wholesale arm of Northern States Power Company. Discount Power is known for its affordable energy and excellent customer service.
Discount Power is dedicated to excellent customer service and education so its customers can make good decisions about their choices in deregulated energy markets. Deregulation means customers can remain with the utility for the purchase of energy or switch to an energy service company for potential savings.
Discount power does business throughout the state of Texas. They service Houston, Dallas, Ft Worth, Corpus Christi, Irvine, and Plano as well as various utility service areas. The utility areas include Oncor, CenterPoint, Texas-New Mexico Power, and AEP Texas.
All customers including residential and commercial customers can enroll in fixed-price, variable, or green energy plans.
Fixed Plans
Under the category of fixed-price plans, Discount Energy offers two options. First, they offer the Value Plus 12 plan which allows customers to lock into a rate that remains stable for 12 months and does not carry a base price charge. They also offer the Saver 24 plan which, like their Value Plus 12 plan, carries no base price charge and the pricing between usage levels remains relatively equal. Customers who select the Saver 24 plan are locked into a fixed price that will not change for a period of 24 months offering stability with regard to budgeting.
Variable Plans
Variable price plans adjust with market conditions and pricing may vary hourly, daily, or monthly depending on the contract.
Green Plans
Green plans are based on electricity generated by non-man-made sources such as solar, wind, water, landfill biomass, and geothermal sources. Green Energy plans are attractive to Discount Power’s environmentally aware customers.
Are you ready to compare electricity plans for your home or business? We offer the best electricity plans from the top retail electricity providers. Now, there are several electricity plan options offered, and knowing your options is a great start to finding the best plan. Here are some of the common electricity plans our energy suppliers offer:
Fixed-rate electricity plans allow residents and businesses to lock-in electricity unit costs at a certain $/kWh for a contract period term. This provides price certainty and a relatively simple way to budget for energy costs.
Our site also gives residents the option to choose between residential electricity rates and commercial electricity rates. Commercial businesses even have the ability to request a custom quote that is tailored to the business's individual usage.
Some energy providers require customers to put down a deposit when they sign up for an electricity plan. Our site allows you to filter plans that do not require a deposit, so you can sign up with an electricity provider on your terms.
Are you looking for a green electricity plan? Our site displays rates from some of the leading green energy suppliers in the country. Whether you want electricity generated from wind or solar, you can easily sort by 100% renewable plans.
